Dhaka University of Engineering & Technology (DUET University), Gazipur is one of the reputed universities for the research of Engineering in Bangladesh. The university begun in 1980 as a Faculty of Engineering under the University of Dhaka providing 4 years ‘ Bachelor level in Civil, Electrical and Electronic and Mechanical Engineering ‘ to help meet the rising require for superior engineering education in Bangladesh. Admission

 Admission Procedures

  • Applications for admission to the above courses should be invited before beginning of each and every semester through regular means of advertising and acquired by the Registrar.
  • On the recommendation of the appropriate EC, the Academics Council should frame the principles for admission to the DUET University for M. Sc. Eng. /M. Phil. /Ph. D. course from time to time.
  • There should be a Selection Committee in each and every department as constituted by the respective ACPG on the advice of the Head of the Department.
  • Just before getting lastly determined for admission, a applicant may be needed to appear at an interview by the Selection Committee.
  • Each and every chosen applicant other than a Ph. D. applicant should have to acquire himself/herself admitted to the DUET University within the prescribed time limit on payment of prescribed fees.

Academic Regulations

  • There should be 2 semesters in 1 academics year. 1 will begin in January and the other in July.
  • The programs of study in a department should be offered by the respective ACPG and sanctioned by the Academics Council on the recommendation of the Executive Committee of the respective Faculty. The ACPG might examine the curriculum from hour and hour and suggest for any changes if essential.
  • The programs to be provided by a department in any semester should be identified by the respective department.
  • Academics progress should be assessed in terms of credit hrs earned by the student. 1 credit hour theoretical program should typically need FOURTEEN periods of lecture during 1 semester while 1 credit hr of laboratory/project/thesis work must typically need 42 periods of laboratory/project/thesis work in a semester. The number of credit hrs for each and every program should be specific in the syllabus of the respective department.

Course Registration

  • Each and every admitted student should have to acquire himself/herself registered into the programs on payment of prescribed fees.
  • Program registration by a student should be done within 2 weeks from the begin of a semester; otherwise the student should not be permitted to carry on the program in that semester.
  • A full-time student should register a minimum of TWELVE (12) credit hrs and a maximum of FIFTEEN (15) credit hrs each semester.
  • A part-time student must typically register a minimum of SIX (6)-credit hrs and a maximum of NINE (9) credit hrs per semester.

Requirements foe the Degrees

M.Phil Degree

The subsequent are the requirements for M. Phil. degree:

  • A student should acquire a minimum CGPA of 2.65 in his/her program works.
  • A student should have to finish a minimum of 48 credit hrs of which 24 credit hrs should be assigned to a thesis.
  • In addition to the successful finish of program work, each and every student should have to submit a thesis on his study work fulfilling the needs as detailed in Art.

Ph.D Degree

  • A student should acquire a minimum CGPA of 2. 65 in his/her progr
  • A student should have to finish a minimum of 60 credit hrs of which FORTY FIVE credit hrs should be assigned to a thesis.
  • He/she should have to pass the Comprehensive Examination. Comprehensive Examination should comprise a written exam and/or an oral examination to test the knowledge of the student in his/her field of research and study. Comprehensive Examination should typically be kept after the finish of the program work by the student. The DSC on the request of the supervisor should fix a date and time for the Comprehensive Exam. The DSC should conduct the Comprehensive Examination.
  • In addition to the successful finish of program work and Comprehensive Examination, each and every student should have to submit a thesis/dissertation on his/her study work fulfilling the needs as detailed in Art.
