Administrative Structure.

The University of the Punjab is dictated by the university of Punjab Act of 1973. The Chancellor, who is Governor of the Province, is the greatest authority of the University. He presides over convocations, and meetings of the University Senate. If he so fancies, he also gives authorization for conferring an honorary degree, etc. The Chancellor, in most of the matters, acts on the advice of the Pro-Chancellor, who is the provincial Minister of Education.

The Vice-Chancellor is the professional head of the University and manages its academics, financial and admin activities. He physical exercises his powers through the advice and selections taken by several University authorities. The Pro-Vice-Chancellor supports the Vice-Chancellor in the performance of some of the characteristics of the University. Deans of Faculties, Directors of the Institutes and Centers, Principals of the Constituent Colleges and Chairpersons of Departments are dependable for the academic actions of their respective academic institutions. The Registrar, the Treasurer, the Controller of Examinations, the Chief Librarian and other officers-in-charge look after the working of related departments.

Faculty of Islamic Studies

With the groundwork of the university of Punjab in 1882 the Oriental Faculty was arranged in the exact year. Soon after on the Faculty of Islamic and Oriental Learning was organized under the university of Punjab  Act 1973. Ph. D., M. Phil and Master programs are being presented in all the departments of the Faculty. An M. Phil program has started in the Departments of Persian and Islamic Studies. An M. Phil program will start from the subsequent academics session in the Department of Arabic and Urdu. Additionally the M. A., M. Phil., a Ph.
